Today is the annual Strong Towns #BlackFridayParking event, where people all over the country share images of underutilized parking lots on what is supposedly the busiest shopping day of the year. If the lots aren't full today, they're never going to be full.
The result is enormous swaths of unutilized asphalt that requires ongoing maintenance despite never contributing to the environment around them. This is a great reminder of how our cities and towns ought to be designed for people, not cars.
